20X0 – A Journey into the Future

The city simulator at the Heureka science center takes the visitors on a journey into a future city in 20X0. The exhibition is based on lifestyles and their sustainability. The visitors make different consumption choices with the help of an identification wristband and get feedback on the lifestyle they choose. Based on the choices, the simulator will create a personal sustainability barometer for each visitor.

Yellow City – Illustrated Stories from Helsinki

17 illustrators from the Napa Illustrations agency asked one Finnish author to take part in a Helsinki-related book project in which the illustrators got to illustrate the selected authors’ texts. The book will be published in January and the pictures will be displayed in the Yellow City exhibition series which will take place, for example, in the city’s libraries, Lasipalatsi and the Annantalo arts center. Free admission.

K-G Roos – Mafia, Marimekko, Mannerheim
As early as the 1950s photojournalist and documentary photographer Karl-Gustav Roos (1937–1976) became aware of a picture’s potential to make an impact on society. He photographed city life in Helsinki and Sicily and also took sensitive outdoor fashion photos of clothes designed by Vuokko Nurmesniemi. Carl Larsson – In Search of the Good Life
Loved by one generation after another, Swedish artist Carl Larsson’s (1853–1919) home-related paintings have proved to be an inspiration behind well-lit interior decoration over the decades. The exhibition at Ateneum focuses on themes related to the home and there are also works from Larsson’s early years, such as large watercolors he painted in France.
