Electronic musician JAAKKO EINO KALEVI is a peculiar figure: a long-haired man who drives a Helsinki tram by day and plays almost every instrument on his records himself. Compared to his rambling debut Dragon Quest, Modern Life by Jaakko Eino Kalevi is a more traditional electronic pop album starring catchy synth melodies. The most exquisite example of these is the video release Poison, which features a hypnotic flutelike riff. The chain of synths is spiced up by visiting vocalists who show off their talent also in Japanese.
